MEANING OF COLORS IN AFGHANISTAN

 

In Afghanistan, the most important religion is Islam. Islam is a monotheistic religion originating with the teachings of Muhammad. For people who believe in this religion the color green has a very important meaning. Green is the sacred colour of Islam, and is used for the bindings of the Qur'an and in the silken covers of the Sufi saints.

Green color means life and nature, besides in this culture green and gold colors are the colors of paradise. 

Also, blue color is very important because in Afghanistan in Medieval ages, this country was only source of ultramarine blue and use in different things.

Afghan Rugs

They are rugs made by Afghan artisans and have in common their composition, quality and dyes, which are natural. That is, obtained from ores or plants. But its design is sleeker and contemporary which makes them well suited for today's decors. Afghan carpets in variety of colors looks, but red is the most representative for these rugs color. The artisans are making many rugs, because in international trade are highly prized.
